  2. 1. The reasons why he left his family is because he wants to find a job and provide income for his family. Other possible reasons why he left is to escape from war and poverty, other reason might be meeting his family from another distant land

    2. Shuan Tan might wanted to be different from other texts and illustrations, and therefore from this different type of text, the reader and the images interact with each other. The pictures represent dark and emotional; example the hands seperating from each other, when the father is off to sail

    3. Every Culture has different expectations of whats required, and every culture is different way of life. Page 24 represents a man leaving his family to search for work. Another culture, might be different and needed the father to say because his the man of the house.

    4. The pictures are bascially in chapters and steps of whats going to happen next. This represents journey because its based on a goal that has to be achieved. Journey are various steps that takes you to one act of another. These picture show that, because frist his with his family, and next thing his on the boat.

  4. 1. I believe the author left his family to find a better job so that he could become a better man towards his family by supporting them better . He may have also left his family to journey out and to discover things that would be strange and unusall towards his current knowledge of the world

    3. I actually thought that the author was right to make such a bizarre illustration of his Graphic novel. I believe that he had done this so that we, as the reader, could create our own story line and to, sort of, travel deeper into the pictures. Basically he is giving the readers a chance to let their imagination run wild......so to speak :P

    4. I believe that the role of culture is represented as Shaun Tan is thrusted upon a place where he is not able to communicate properly however, even though this is true, he has been accepted in a new society as one of them and is learning there ways and understandings

    5. Shaun tan, in his graphic novel, has had some strong relationships during his journey of self discovery. His relationship with his family must have been strong as Shaun;s purpose in his journey would have been to support his family in future terms
